An intimate discussion around Salim Dada’s first string quartet, Fine dell’inizio, composed in spring 2009 in Italy. Commissioned by the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “G. Verdi” di Torino for Claudia Ravetto’s class “Musica d’insieme per archi”, this piece explores the philosophical depths of string quartet ontology. In this conversation, part of Camille Prost’s doctoral research at the University of Lille 3, Salim Dada reflects on the genesis of this remarkable work.
